When told that singing wasn\u2019t a \u201cviable career choice,\u201d she decided to go to school for psychology, but that didn\u2019t stop the music.<\/p>\n<p>Her passion for both music and psychology turned out to be the perfect duet. She\u2019s a practicing clinical therapist in the Royal Oak area and also sings professionally for the popular Detroit rock band\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.evaunderfire.com\/\">Eva Under Fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of what I love about music, rock \u2018n\u2019 roll specifically, is the ability to connect with others on a meaningful level,\u201d said Lyberg. \u201cConnecting with people through therapy seemed like a good option.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lyberg is no stranger to Lighthouse events; her band took part in this year\u2019s Lighthouse LIVE 12-hour live stream in May. She admits the opportunity to join Dancing with the Detroit Stars came as a complete surprise, but she\u2019s excited to play another role to assist Lighthouse.<\/p>\n<p>The self-proclaimed \u201ccool aunt\u201d is married to a fellow rocker and is a proud fur momma to two cats.<\/p>\n<p>This is her first dance competition and, although her dance experience is limited, Lyberg is thankful she can help the organization raise money for those in need, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m grateful that entertaining events, like this, have survived in the 2020 chaos. People need a reason to smile and enjoy life a little while participating in an event that\u2019s helping others. I think that\u2019s the power of positivity at work,\u201d she said. \u201cEvents like Dancing With the Stars are needed now more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 12th annual Flagstar\u2019s Dancing with the Stars will be held virtually Nov. 21. Proceeds from the event help fight homelessness and poverty in Oakland County.
